Commentary	1917（大正6）年、関東都督府への警務部設置に伴い、以前の警視総長が警務総長に変更された。警務総長は南満洲駐箚憲兵の長たる陸軍将校をもってこれに充てた。警務総長は都督の命を受け警務部の事務を統括した。1919（大正8）年の関東庁設置によって廃止された。
