Commentary	1919（大正8）年の警務局設置に伴い新設された。理蕃課では、蕃人蕃地に関する事項、蕃地内取締に関する事項、兵器弾薬に関する事項を掌った。1944（昭和19）年に、理蕃課は警務課に統合されてその下の理蕃係となった。
